Gymkhana means a competition in which horse & rider compete against others in timed events which test both speed & agility. At CVSC, we offer 6 levels of age group competition. These 6 groups are: 3-7, 8-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-24, and 25+.
Riders needing a bit of encouragement and confidence building are allowed to be led through a pattern. These Lead-Line folks are those riders just starting and need a bit of time getting comfortable with gymkhana and all that goes with it. At CVSC, we recognize and encourage these riders while not putting any unnecessary pressure upon them. These riders may have a coach, friend, or anybody they wish enter the ring and lead them through the patterns.
Age-Group competition is for those riders whose abilities run the gamete. Basic control of the horse through relatively advanced riders participate in the age-group competitions and it gives those riders an opportunity to refine their skills and abilities.
Riders may enter more than one time with different horses for a chance to compete on multiple levels with horses in various stages of 'finishing'.
At CVSC, we strive to ensure that all riders know how they have done in all areas of our gymkhanas. Results are posted during gymkhanas and posted here as soon as they become available. This is to ensure that any discrepancies that may arise are resolved as soon as possible, and to give individuals a sense of just what it is going to take to get to the next level. We do not feel there should be any surprises when it comes to year-end awards, other than the what the actual award itself is, and that will will be a pleasant surprise at that. After all, you wouldn't want to compete in other sports that kept the champion a surprise now, would you?
The rewards offered by the CVSC are second-to-none. While the feeling of personal satisfaction for a job well done cannot be beat, no other club offers such potential things as cash payout's at each gymkhana, Speed-Horse Jackpot Events, Saddle Series and Year-End awards. In addition, when time allows, we have our Non-Trophy event at each gymkhana with a 50% payback as well as placement ribbons for each class in every gymkhana. Since the CVSC is a non-profit organization, we pride ourselves in returning all monies collected back to you in the form of awards that are more than trophies to hang on a wall. It is the goal of CVSC to continue to be the premier gymkhana club in the valley which offers a friendly atmosphere and spirited competition. We hope you will join us.
It takes more than the commitment of one person to make a club a success. While it is true that there needs to be competent leadership and support staff, it is ultimately the dedication of many people behind the scenes who make any club worthwhile. Consequently, the individuals who organize the CVSC wish to thank you all, the competitor, the crews, the behind the scenes people who have quietly served, and those who just wanted the opportunity to ride, for the opportunity to serve you. Thank you.
